What does the company do?
Oscar Health (OSCR) is a healthcare technology company that offers health insurance plans for individuals and families, along with technology solutions through its +Oscar platform. The company also provides healthcare shopping and enrollment tools through its marketplace and serves consumers, employers, brokers, and healthcare organizations. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in New York City, Oscar combines health insurance with technology to simplify the healthcare experience.
Why Some Investors Are Bullish
Oscar delivered a huge Q2 earnings beat. Oscar Health reported Q2 EPS of $1.10, well above the roughly $0.40 consensus estimate, while revenue came in at $4.88 billion, ahead of estimates around $4.73 billion. Revenue also jumped 70.4% year over year, making this a very strong quarter from both an earnings and top-line perspective.
The stock has continued to show strong momentum. OSCR recently traded as high as $33.55, which is its current 52-week high, and the shares are still up more than 80% over the past year. At around $32.25, the stock remains relatively close to that high-water mark.
The technical trend remains positive. Oscar is trading above its 50-day moving average of about $30.41 and its 200-day moving average of about $20.49, which supports the broader bullish trend. The RSI is currently around 58, so the stock has momentum without looking technically extreme based on that indicator alone.
Oscar is still growing at a very fast pace. Q2 revenue increased more than 70% year over year, while membership reached nearly 3.0 million, up about 46% from a year earlier. Oscar also maintained its 2026 revenue outlook of $18.7 billion to $19.0 billion while raising its earnings-from-operations guidance to $500 million–$700 million.
The longer-term growth story is becoming more interesting. Oscar is moving from a company focused primarily on growth toward one that is demonstrating meaningful profitability, with $1.04 billion of net income in the first half of 2026 compared with just $46.9 million in the prior-year period. If Oscar can maintain strong membership growth while improving margins, the investment story could become much more compelling over time
What Bears Are Worried About
Wall Street isn’t convinced the stock is cheap anymore. The current analyst consensus is Hold, with an average price target of about $30.40, below the recent $32.25 share price. That doesn’t necessarily mean the business is deteriorating—it suggests that after OSCR’s huge run, analysts aren’t yet pricing in substantially more upside.
Insider selling is worth watching. Insider sales have been significant, with roughly $143.5 million of insider selling over the past 12 months according to current transaction data. Several large sales came from Oscar insiders during the summer, including CEO Mark Bertolini and director Mario Schlosser.
The stock’s momentum is strong, but conviction needs to be watched. OSCR recently traded about 3.69 million shares versus a 20-day average of roughly 4.97 million, so recent volume has been below average. With the stock already up more than 80% over the past year and trading near its 52-week high, investors should pay attention to whether future gains are supported by improving earnings and cash generation rather than momentum alone.
